Abstract
The mosquitoes Culiseta melanura and Cs. morsitans were found to breed near their diurnal resting habitats, which were the uplands in and surrounding the swamp. During periods of high density, Cs. melanura oviposited at all suitable sites throughout the swamp. Water level had little influence on the number of emerging adults as long as it was between the level of the swamp floor and flood stage. The number of Cs. melanura emerging after a dry period was directly related to the minimum water depth reached during that period. Few adults emerged after the water level fell more than 25 cm beneath the swamp floor, or if the site remained dry for more than 50 consecutive days. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
