Abstract
The major saponin of Cyclamen hederifolium Aiton (C. neapolitanum Ten.) and C. graecum Link is shown to be cyclamin, which on hydrolysis yields cyciamiretins A, B, C and D. A second saponin ist also present which on hydrolysis gives the cyclamigenins. Examination for the first time of the NMR spectra of the cyciamiretins shows that cyclamiretin C is an internal hemiacetal. Keywords
