Abstract
Four patients have had operation at the Mayo Clinic [Rochester, Minnesota, USA] for a cardiac fibroma and all survived. Three patients have an excellent clinical result and are free of tumor 1 yr, 13 yr and 17 yr postoperatively. The 4th shows radiographic evidence of residual tumor near the mitral anulus, but is clinically well 15 yr postoperatively. A 5th unoperated patient died suddenly 8 yr after presumptive diagnosis of fibroma at the age of 83 yr. Patients who have undergone successful excision of cardiac fibroma have an excellent probability of remaining freee of disease. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
