Abstract
Technetium 99m sulfide colloid can be prepared rapidly and conveniently by precipitation from pertechnetate eluted from a Tc99m generator, using rhenium as a carrier, through the action of sodium thiosulfate. The use of presterilized reagents yields a sterile product, which is ready for use without further processing. Gelatin is added as a protective colloid. No toxic materials or odoriferous gases are used. The product contains virtually no soluble technetium and no macroaggregates. Preparation time is less than 10 minutes, and can be done in a small area of any radioisotope clinic. Liver scans of high resolution and excellent counting statistics can be obtained with minimal patient radiation dose. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
