Abstract
Methods are given for the calculation of gastrointestinal clearances of Sr85 and Ca45 after intravenous doses of the radioisotopes. It is shown that the ratio of the gastrointestinal clearance of Sr85 to that of Ca45 may be calculated from stool values alone, without knowledge of the individual clearances. A method is also given for the calculation of "true"or "corrected" gastrointestinal excretion[long dash]that is, that which is secreted into the gastrointestinal tract and not reabsorbed. The "true" stool excretion pattern resembles that of urinary excretion. An increase in dietary calcium raised Ca45 gastrointestinal clearance more than it raised that of Sr85, The administration of hormones had variable effects on gastrointestinal clearances. An estrogenic hormone, Mytatrienediol, and a progestational hormone, Norlutin, in some cases decreased clearances and in others produced no change. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
