Abstract
The Paper briefly describes the findings of a research project into the variability of tutor grading of assignments at the Open University. It goes on to explain that some factors causing the variation became apparent through discussion with the participating tutors, questionnaires, examination of questions and marking notes. It concludes by suggesting some areas for future research.Keywords
