Abstract
Ten tryp-tophan-dependent mutants of Staphylococcus aureus were obtained following exposure of a tryptophan-independent.strain to ultraviolet irradiation and penicillin. Mutants were differentiated by growth responses, syntrophism, reversion rates and transduction. A genetic analysis using transduction techniques allowed the construction of a chromosome map of two different functional linkage groups closely linked to each other. Keywords
