Determination of nickel in human nails by adsorption differential-pulse voltammetry

Abstract
A procedure is described for the determination of nickel in human nails, which consists in a simple wet digestion followed by quantitation by adsorption differential-pulse voltammetry. This procedure produced more reliable results for low nickel levels than atomic-absorption spectrometry; for unexposed individuals, mean values for nickel in finger-and toenails were found to be 2.14 ± 1.20 µg g–1 and 0.78 ± 0.42 µg g–1, respectively.
