Abstract
To the Editor: The association of celiac disease with HLA-Dw3 and B8 has been well established by several studies.1 The higher association found with Dw3 suggests that the association with B8 is secondary to linkage disequilibrium with Dw3. Lately, our group2 and others3 , 4 have found an association of celiac disease not only with Dw3 (or the corresponding serologic specificity DRw3) but also with Dw7 (or DRw7). Compound heterozygotes with Dw3/Dw7 displayed an increased risk for celiac disease as compared with patients positive only for either specificity. As part of our ongoing study on the genetics of celiac disease, we . . .Keywords
