Abstract
To the Editor: The main features of the fetal alcohol syndrome, such as prenatal and postnatal growth retardation, facial abnormalities, and mental retardation, have been known for more than a decade.1 It has also become evident that heavy maternal drinking is associated with several minor structural defects, such as polydactyly and syndactyly.2 We report here evidence of a possible association between maternal use of alcohol and fetal talipes equinovarus.An outpatient clinic for pregnant problem drinkers was opened in our hospital in 1983.
