Abstract
A multiple inoculation technique was developed for evaluating resistance of barley seedlings to Rhynchosporium secalis, Puccinia hordei and Erysiphe graminis hordei. Differences in disease reaction were highly significant among cultivars inoculated with the fungi. Disease reaction in the multiple inoculation test correlated well with disease reaction in concurrent single inoculation tests. The technique should prove valuable for evaluating barley seedlings where seed supplies or space are limited and results are needed rapidly.
