Abstract
The quasi-chemical approximation in the theory of strictly regular mixtures is examined, its convergence is proved formally, and the behaviour of the lower approximations is discussed. An alternative generalization of the quasi-chemical approximation for pairs is proposed and found to be equivalent to an approximation developed by Kikuchi. The implications of this alternative approximation are discussed. Keywords
