Abstract
THE condition of anencephaly has attracted considerable recent attention in medical, legal, ethical, religious, and lay discussions. The primary reason for these discussions and for the preparation of this document has been the interest in transplanting organs from infants with anencephaly. To approach this subject logically, it is necessary to distinguish medical issues from ethical, legal, and other matters. This document presents a consensus, limited to medical issues, of organizations of physicians caring for fetuses and infants with anencephaly. Keywords
