Deuteron Photodisintegration in the Medium Energy Range

Abstract
The photodisintegration of the deuteron is calculated for the two γ-ray energies in the laboratory of 52.3 Mev and 77.3 Mev corresponding to nucleon-nucleon scattering in the laboratory of 100 Mev and 150 Mev. For the ground state the Hulthén wave function with 4% D-state probability is used. The final state is described by the Signell-Marshak phase shifts. The coupling of the scattered waves is taken into account, as well as the retardation effects and all dipole and quadrupole transitions are included. For unpolarized γ rays the total cross section and the angular distribution are calculated. A comparison with the experiments is made.
