Abstract
The feasibility of using facilities-allocation algorithms in the design of control and display panels was illustrated by applying the CRAFT (Computerized Relative Allocation of Facilities Technique) facilities-allocation algorithm to the design of a hypothetical aircraft main instrument panel. The results indicate that facilities-allocation algorithms are feasible tools for designing control and display panels and suggest that development of an algorithm specifically for the panel design problem is warranted. Keywords
