Amide-Metal Ion Complex Formation and Its Effect on the Catalysis of Cellulose Cross-linking Reactions

Abstract
A series of complexes formed between either ethyteneurea or propyleneurea and a variety of metal perchlorates has been isolated. It is demonstrated that the position of the carbonyl absorption band in the infrared spectra of these complexes cannot be used to predict the mode of bonding in the complex. The relationship between the structure of these complexes and the mechanism of cellulose cross-linking reactions is discussed
