Abstract
The stratification and/or light treatments required for germinating dormant seeds of some eucalypt species were replaced by treatment with gibberellic acid. For light sensitive seeds, the effects of gibberellic acid and light were additive. Generally, kinetin had no effect on the germination of E. pauciflora seeds but sometimes inhibited germination. No evidence was obtained that red and far-red light affected germination. Possible mechanisms of dormancy in eucalypt seeds are discussed. Keywords
