Abstract
Among the French political forces which refuse the traditional political field and above all a position along the left-right dimension, ecologists corne first. However, for the « green » voters, this search for a different location results in practice, as shown by various studies, in a centrist position. The first results of an inquiry in progress suggest that, unlike voters, the ecologist leaders, despite a discourse of clear refusal of positioning, do distinguish the center from an « elsewhere » viewed as lying outside the established political universe. That « elsewhere » is indeed exclusive of any relations with the right, but it does not preclude relations with the established political universe, through part of the left. Keywords
