Abstract
The concept of the effective chain length and the hydrophobicity index was modified and adopted for block copolymers of ethylene and butylene oxides. The effective contents of the polyoxyethylene chain and hydrophilicity indices were determined, and an improved equation for the calculation of HLB values of ethylene and butylene oxide block copolymers is proposed. The method for the estimation of the polarity index is also given. Keywords
