Abstract
A technique is presented for the design of stable two-dimensional recursive digital filters. The stability of the resulting filters is guaranteed, and hence repeated application of cumbersome stability tests is obviated. The transfer function of the filter is obtained from a one-dimensional prototype by applying a new transformation technique in the frequency domain. To illustrate the approach some design examples of low-pass filters are given. Keywords
