Abstract
A review of the clinical and pathological features of congenital pneumonia is presented in 72 cases. Clear histological evidence of pulmonary inflammation was lacking in most cases. It is suggested that congenital pneumonia is usually a passive condition due to asphyxial aspiration of maternal inflammatory cells. Keywords
