Luminescence spectra of binuclear chromium(III) compounds

Abstract
The luminescence and absorption spectra of [(NH3)5CrOHCr(NH3)5]X5·nH2O (n= 1, X = ClO4, NO3, Cl; n= 3, X = Cl), have been measured on microcrystalline samples at temperatures down to 5 K. At least three of the four components of the ground state have been located in each case and the approximate applicability of the isotropic exchange Hamiltonian [graphic omitted] –30 sasb cm–1 to the ground state confirmed. The coupling in the (4A, 2E) excited state and the intensity mechanism require a much more complex exchange term.
