Faunal Remains at the Kartchner Site: A Mimbres-Mogollon Pueblo in Southwestern New Mexico

Abstract
A small sample of faunal remains was recovered from the Kartchner Site, a Mimbres-Mogollon pueblo in southwestern New Mexico. Non-methodical excavations were conducted by the property owners, which seriously limited this study. Analysis of the sample identifies Lagomorphs as the most common fauna. The remains that are identified allow the inference that at least three microenvironments were utilized and the tentative suggestion that spring-summer animal exploitation may have been emphasized.
