Magnetic and Electronic Phase Diagram and Superconductivity in the Organic Superconductors k-(BEDT-TTF)2X

Abstract
The static magnetic susceptibility of the organic superconductors k-(h8 or d8-BEDT-TTF)2X, X = Cu(NCS)2 and Cu[N(CN)2]Br has been studied in a magnetic field parallel to each crystallographic axis. A metallic phase below T* = 37 - 38K for X = Cu[N(CN)2]Br and 46 - 50K for X = Cu(NCS)2 has an anisotropic temperature dependence of the susceptibility and the charge transport. Partial charge-density-wave fluctuation or charge fluctuation is expected to exist with a metallic nature of this phase instead of large antiferromagnetic fluctuation reported above T*. The phase diagram and the superconductivity of k-(BEDT-TTF)2X are discussed in connection with the nature of this phase.
