PATTERN OF RENEWED CAMBIAL ACTIVITY IN RELATION TO EXOGENOUS AUXIN IN DETACHED WOODY SHOOTS

Abstract
-This experiment supports the view that an auxin stimulus (IAA or other) is necessary for the reactivation of a quiescent cambium, that disbudded shoots of the 4 species studied lack such stimulus, that the transport of IAA is polar in the basipetal direction (Leopold 1961), and that an active transport mechanism for IAA is present in the shoots.
