Abstract
The optical (OKE) and electric (EKE) Kerr effects were measured for yeast transfer RNA aqueous solutions. The orientation of tRNA molecules in a DC magnetic field was observed by means of light scattering. OKE, EKE, Rayleigh light scattering and light scattering in magnetic field measurements of tRNA solutions have allowed the authors to determine the third-order polarizability, the permanent dipole moment, the rotational relaxation time and the sign of anisotropy of optical and magnetic polarizabilities of tRNA molecules. Keywords
