Abstract
The elastic constants of DySb near its 9.5 K phase transition are calculated using a simple model for the states of the Dy ions. Good agreement with experiment is obtained above the transition but there are large discrepancies in the low temperature phase. It is argued that his disagreement is not a consequence of the model for the states. Keywords
