Abstract
Magneto‐optic observations of magnetic domains and reversal processes in several SmCo5‐type sintered magnets are reported. Patterns taken with variable applied fields on basal‐plane and transverse sections are correlated with measured bulk magnetization curves. States studied included initial magnetization, points in second quadrant after saturation, and on recoil loops. It is seen that domain patterns on pole surfaces do not necessarily reflect the magnetization distribution and change mechanisms in the magnet interior. Observed processes also differ from those reported for low‐coercivity SmCo5 samples. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
