Weber-Christian Panniculitis with Immunological Abnormalities

Abstract
A case of Weber-Christian pannuculitis in a patient with abnormalities in both cell-mediated and humoral immunity was reported. Negative or weak delayed hypersensitivity reactions to common antigens, and a lymphopenia in peripheral blood associated with decreased sheep erythrocyte rosette-forming cells were observed. Direct immunofluorescence studies demonstrated the depositions of C1q and C3 in the vessel walls and at the dermoepidermal junction in the lesional skin and the deposits of IgM and C1q in the vessels in histamine-injected uninvolved skin. The immunological abnormalities demonstrated in our case may have etiologic significance.
