Abstract
Relativistic calculations are made for photoionization of the ground state of neonlike Fe XVII, using the Breit-Pauli Hamiltonian within the -matrix method. Relativistic effects are clearly revealed by comparing the results with those obtained in the nonrelativistic coupling approximation.
