Abstract
A chloride ion-selective electrode based on a tertiary ammonium ion exchanger was studied. By incorporating dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid in a conventional poly(vinyl chloride) matrix membrane, the electrode performance was improved in terms of linearity and selectivity against lipophilic anions. The slope of the emf response for a chloride ion concentration of between 0.1 and 1 mmol l–1 increased from 22 to 39 mV. Selectivity coefficients against interfering anions decreased by 20–80%.Keywords
