Abstract
A single-fluid local thermal equilibrium (LTE) model used to predict composition, material functions, and temperature profiles for arc discharges in complex mixtures is reviewed. Results are given for the application of the model to two metal halide discharges used in arc lamps, but predicted arc properties such as central temperature, radiative output, and electrical impedance differ from those observed.Keywords
