Abstract
In the Folin estimation of adrenalin in bovine adrenal extracts the error in excess as compared with other colorimetric methods or the pressor assay was almost entirely accounted for by uric acid and ascorbic acid, chiefly the latter. Correction of this error by indophenol titration is limited by the sensitivity of the Folin reagent to partially oxidized ascorbic acid which does not react with iodine or indophenol. Discrepancies previously observed in using this method are not valid evidence for the existence of an adrenalin precursor in the gland.
