Abstract
Chicken insulin was tested in mice in vivo and in vitro. The biological activity was compared to bovine insulin (=100%) as follows: 1. In vitro: Fat pad test 375%; 14C incorporation into the lipids of fat pads 369%: hemidiaphragm insulin assay 373 percent. 2. Localized intraperitoneal action in vivo: 14C incorporation into the fat pads 195%: U-14C-glucose incorporation into glycogen of hemidiaphragm 215 per cent. 3. Mouse convulsion test: The activity was slightly increased.
