Abstract
Brain DM‐20 proteolipid was previously shown to be structurally different from the myelin major proteo‐lipid (MMPL). In an attempt to set up a large‐scale purification of DM‐20, we studied extraction of brain proteo‐lipids with mixtures of methylene chloride containing up to 80% methanol. The CH2Cl2‐CH3OH (3:7, vol/vol) mixture is highly selective for the extraction of bovine brain DM‐20 compared to MMPL. Purified DM‐20 was obtained after chromatography of the extract on methylated Sephadex. Keywords
