Abstract
Treatment of intact barley root systems with salts of certain aliphatic and aromatic carboxylic acids caused the loss of potassium, nitrate, and u.v.-absorbing material into the surrounding solution. The extent of this loss depended on the lipophilic nature of the organic acid used, and on the concentration of its undissociated form. Neutral derivatives of the organic acids, namely amides and esters, were not effective in causing ion loss. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
