Abstract
The energy density of the electron-photon component has been measured at distances of 60–500 metres from the axis of showers containing 3 × 106 particles at sea level. The mean electron energy appears to be constant, and close to the critical value of 84 Mev, over this region. A lower limit for the energy appearing in the soft component of these showers at sea level is set at 6 × 1014 ev.Keywords
