Abstract
A 17 month old child with a large subcutaneous hemangioendothelioma with platelet trapping and hypofibrinogenemia is reported. Despite multiple transfusions, splenectomy and corticosteroid therapy there was no improvement. Administration of roentgen therapy with a cumulative dose of 1,825 r during a time interval of 7 months resulted in complete regression of the tumor mass and return of normal platelet and fibrinogen levels. The case demonstrates that conventional doses of roentgen therapy may have to be exceeded before the full benefit is achieved in this type of tumor. Keywords
