Abstract
Field tests of survey-type electric insect traps conducted at College Station and Brownsville, Texas during 1959 showed that cylindrical enclosures of 1/4-inch mesh hardware cloth reduced the catches of large species of insects by a factor of 70% or more, while reducing the catches of smaller species of insects, comparable in size to adult pink bollworms (Pectinophora gossypiella(Saund.)), by a factor of 20% to 45%. Tests with artificial windbreaks showed that catches of all species were increased by shielding the traps from the effects of prevailing winds. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
