Abstract
Fifty-three cases of alveolar soft-part sarcoma were analyzed. Forty-six cases were followed long enough to permit collection of survival data by actuarial methods 82.8% ([plus or minus] 5.9%) in 2 years, 59% ([plus or minus] 8.8%) in 5 years, and 47.1% ([plus or minus] 9.3%) in 10 years. Most tumors were noted in female patients and there seemed to be a trend toward right-sided laterality. Tumors developed in female patients at an earlier age than in male patients. The histo-genesis of the tumor remains uncertain. The paucity of information and the sluggishness of tumor growth make interpretation of therapeutic effects difficult. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
