Abstract
Anterior commissurotomy for the relief of intractable lower half and midline pain was a very satisfactory procedure in a small group of severely incapacitated patients. The presumed anatomic rationale for undertaking the procedure was not confirmed by postoperative sensory examinations. Alternative explanations for its effectiveness remain conjectural. The operative procedure was described. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
