Abstract
The absolute values of the cross sections for ionization by electron impact of sodium, potassium, rubidium, and cesium have been measured by a modulated cross-beam technique. The values obtained for the maximum cross sections are tabulated and were observed to increase with increasing atomic number. An unsuccessful attempt was made to measure the ionization cross section of lithium. Keywords
