Abstract
Dislocation structures of (001) sections of natural crystals of barite have been studied by x-ray diffraction topography. Pure edge dislocations along [100] with Burgers vector b = b [010], and pure screw dislocations with Burgers vector b = (a + b) [l10] were found. Mixed dislocations which were either predominantly edge with b = b [010] or predominantly screw with b = (a + b) [l10] were also found. These mixed dislocations are probably grown-in. The authors gratefully acknowledge the support of the Australian Research Grants Committee and the Sir Ian Potter Foundation. We also thank Dr. A. C. McLaren for comments on the manuscript, Dr. A. W. Beasley of the National Museum for providing the specimens, and the staff of the photographic laboratory for printing the topographs. Keywords
