UV written 13 dB reflection filters in hydrogenated low loss planar silica waveguides

Abstract
UV written holographic gratings in hydrogenated GeO2–SiO2 planar waveguides which have given a reflectivity of 13 dB at 1555 nm with a bandwidth of 0.6 nm are reported. The index modulation within the gratings was calculated to be 5 × 10−4. In addition the waveguides are low loss from 1300 to 1600 nm.
