EDITOR,—We agree with Dereck R Tait and colleagues about the importance of laboratory confirmation of exanthems for surveillance purposes.1 The salivary IgM assay has been used successfully during the recent measles and rubella vaccination campaign in selected districts2 but is not yet available commercially.
