Abstract
Anomalies were observed in the electronic component of the ultrasonic attenuation of transverse and longitudinal waves in high-purity rhenium, which could not satisfactorily be explained by the free-electron or real-metal theories of Pippard. A two-band model will be developed to explain the observed attenuation. Keywords
