29—A STUDY OF ‘STATIC’ IN RELATION TO THE SOILING OF GARMENTS IN WEAR

Abstract
Details are given of a study of the generation of electrostatic charges on the collars and cuffs of cotton, Terylene and Orlon shirts and on the skirt portions of nylon, Terylene and Tricel underskirts during wear. By comparing parts of the garments treated with an anti-static agent to eliminate electrostatic charges with untreated parts of the garments, the effect of such charges on the soiling of the garments during wear was examined.
