Abstract
The reaction rate constants for the reaction of CH (X 2Π, v″=0,1) with O2 and N2 have been measured. CH was produced by IR multiple photondissociation of methanol and probed by laser induced fluorescence of the A(0,0) (431 nm) and A(0,1) (488 nm) transitions. The second order rate constants are k 02 (v″=0)=2.1×10−12 cm3 molecule−1 s−1, k 02 (v″=1)=4.3×10−12 cm3 molecule−1 s−1, k N2 (v″=0)=7.1×10−14 cm−3 molecule−1 s−1, and k N2 (v″=1)=3.0×10−12 cm3 molecule−1 s−1. The rate constants for CH (v″=1) are the observed combined rate constants for reaction and vibrational relaxation. Keywords
