A note on an approximate factorization in discriminant analysis

Abstract

A scale factor has been derived previously for a test of the directional aspect of hypothetical functions in discriminant analysis. By showing that the test is a likelihood ratio test it follows that the scale factor makes the momonts of the test criterion agree with those of a X² variable to within a certain accuracy.
