Abstract
The time required for M. croceipes (Cresson), parasitic in the tobacco budworm, Heliothis virescens (F.), to develop from oviposition through the pupal stage ranged from 28.3±2.0 days at 20°C to 14.5±1.0 days at 32.2°C; none held at 35°C completed the pupal stage. All parasites reared at 15°C and some of those reared at 20°C disposed in the pupal stage. Emergence of diapausing individuals took as much as 58 days and was 39% successful when the cocoons were moved to 25°C compared with 40 days and 58% when they were held at 30°C. A temperature of 30°C was thus the most economical for rearing. At that temperature, development from egg to adult took 14.5±1.2 days, and 91% of the pupae became adults. Keywords
